Surgery is today

Pilar called not long ago to let me know the doctors informed them this morning that they will amputate today. They had been waiting for the psychologist to tell Rosa about the amputation but as the days passed and the psychologist never came, one of the sisters finally talked to her Monday night about it. She was a little miffed that they hadn’t told her sooner, but she took it well and was in agreement.

Please pray for her as she undergoes this surgery. She is 81 years old and has had trouble with her blood pressure and sugar levels. Pray for the family as they deal with the trauma of the amputation.

Corpus Christi Day

The streets are quiet, everyone seems to be tucked away in their houses. It is a  holiday! I love days like these when the traffic is minimal and people are at home.  Let me share some of what has been happening this week…

  • We continue to wait on the basketball court project- hopefully the mayor will have an answer for us tomorrow. He wanted to talk to the engineer who went to see the site before making his decision. We still haven’t reached an agreement with the owner of the lot. There is a meeting tomorrow night of the community leadership group where they hope to explain to him that the Civil Defense and other authorities have prohibited building a house there. Unfortunately, he is wanting enough money to buy a lot somewhere else which we will not do. Pray for wisdom and patience as we deal with this situation.
  • The leadership teams are taking hold and making plans. Pray for us as we seek to further understand how to work as the body of Christ. Sol is heading up two projects: one, getting Sunday School faculties ready to initiate SS after the group is here in July.  We aren’t so good with advance planning so pray for discipline on everyone’s part to get ourselves ready before July 5th!
  • The other project is a special service in Navarrette (Ponton) to initiate the new work there. We were there this week praying and meeting folks and now we plan on a special service followed by a weekly bible study. Pray for us as we pull that together, hopefully this Sunday evening.
